with Janet Colli, Ph.D. & Thomas Beck, Ph.D.

Janet Colli and Thomas Beck provide psychological services of Counseling and Consulting, both in-person and at-a-distance. Telemedicine allows healthcare at a distance using telephone or Skype. Janet's therapeutic tools include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and dreamwork. Thomas utilizes EMDR, hypnotherapy, meditation and mindfulness-based stress reduction. As authors and speakers in the field of self-development, we offer teachings and tools to support the evolution of personal and collective consciousness.

Psycho-Spiritual Transformation

We specialize in psycho-spiritual transformation. We facilitate growth and healing through spiritual emergence. Those who have experienced trauma, deep disturbance, or a dark night of the soul — often develop special awareness or perceptual abilities. Such experience appears to be the portal to a biologically-based transformation of the human personality. The emerging science of neuroplasticity confirms our brains' capacity to alter brain structure and functioning. New neural pathways can be created to foster empathy, compassion and gratitude ... hope.

Such growth or transformation is a natural evolutionary process that everyone can access. Disturbances in the field, such as depression, anxiety or physical illness can be vehicles of growth. Consciousness transforms when our egos are threatened and our hearts are challenged to open. We assist in the emergence of the Self and the collective planetary awakening.

Transpersonal Psychotherapy

Transpersonal Psychology is the psychology of the sacred. As transpersonal psychotherapists, we offer a unique perspective on healing. We deal with experiences that carry us beyond our ego or self-identity, beyond culture, and sometimes beyond time & space. We facilitate the integration of insights, epiphanies and scientific discoveries. Synchronicities. We specialize in helping people process and integrate out-of-body and near-death experiences (OBEs & NDEs), as well as lucid dreams. Otherworldly beings, survival after death, memories of past lives and birth — can be healing, in and of themselves.

We mediate the connection with transcendent healing. Therapy is about facilitating that connection, rather than merely diagnosing and medicating pathology. Therapy is about healing our traumas, and growing our nervous systems to enable us to reach beyond ourselves, to shrink the distance between you & me, and us & them. And ultimately — to reach our full human potential.

Trauma & Dissociation as an Evolutionary Process

Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.
— Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

Once you've learned a lesson hard, it's hard to unlearn it.
— Eugene O'Neill, Long Day's Journey into Night

Childhood trauma involves dissociation, an altered-state experience. Developmental trauma can fracture the psyche and necessitate the repair of aspects of us that remain “frozen” in time. Initially, we help desensitize trauma (see EMDR) and develop mindfulness. We can then develop the unique sensitivities initiated through trauma and dissociation. By processing and integrating non-ordinary experience, we evolve the total personality.

... the emergence [of difficult symptoms] into consciousness, traditionally seen as a sign of mental illness, may actually be the organism's radical effort to free itself from the effects of various traumas, simplify its functioning, and heal itself.
— Christina Grof and Stanislav Grof

Anxiety & Depression as Transformational Doors

Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom.
— Soren Kierkegaard

Enormous energy is involved — whether posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), or panic attacks. We help people mindfully confront the ways we have been conditioned to limit ourselves.

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.
— D. H. Lawrence

Depression is subsumed life energy. Energy not used becomes morbid as obstacles overwhelm and obstruct us. We help people find the “keys” within to tap into undermined strength. We support the creation of new neural pathways. As blocked energy is released and integrated, our personalities transform.

You must do the thing you think you cannot do.
— Eleanor Roosevelt

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
— Leonard Cohen

The Awakening Process of Spiritual Emergence

... the potential for a mystical experience is the birthright of all human beings ...
— Christina Grof & Stanislav Grof
The Stormy Search for the Self

As you connect with your core Self, and awaken to higher-dimensional realities — the expression of powerful energies throughout your body may require support. Janet is a clinical member of the Spiritual Emergence Network (SEN), and the Canadian Spiritual Emergence Service (SES), and the International Network of Experiencer Therapists (INET). She has over 12 years experience facilitating transformational crises.

If properly understood and treated as difficult stages in a natural developmental process, spiritual emergencies can result in emotional and psychosomatic healing, deep positive changes of the personality, and the solution of many problems in life.
— Christina Grof & Stanislav Grof

Subtle Energy &
Kundalini Awakening

You can't unring the bell.

When energy awakens in the body, it can herald the re-structuring of one's life. We help people follow the path of least resistance — to stabilize and sustain their energetic connection — to the river of life within. Dr. Beck has been integrating his personal Kundalini awakening experiences for over 15 years. He is a seasoned facilitator of heightened energetic processes.

The thunderbolt (vajra) is one of the major symbols in Buddhist iconography, signifying the spiritual power of Buddhahood (indestructible enlightenment) which shatters the illusory realities of the world.
— Joseph Campbell
The Hero With a Thousand Faces

God is not nice. God is no uncle. God is an earthquake.
— Rollo May, Hassidic saying

Jack Donaghy: You need to see a therapist, someone you can dump your problems on...
Liz Lemon: I just can't find someone I like. Have you ever been to a shrink?
Jack: No, I believe that when you have a problem, you talk it over with your priest, or your tailor or the mute elevator operator at your men's club. Then you take that problem and crush it with your mind vise. But for lesser beings, like curly-haired men and people who need glasses, therapy can help.

Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?
